Diesel Exhaust Fuel (DEF)

Pine Run is an experienced installer of Diesel Exhaust Fuel (DEF) fueling systems. Our company is one of the few installers in Pennsylvania with the experience and background to install these complete systems.

As part of the Clean Air Act of 1970, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has mandated that all on-road diesel vehicles manufactured January 1, 2010 or later must reduce the harmful NOx emissions. The most widely accepted technology to comply with this regulation will be to inject DEF (Diesel Exhaust Fluid) into the exhaust of vehicles using Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) technology. The chemical reaction between DEF and the exhaust eliminates the NOx, resulting in harmless nitrogen and water being released into our atmosphere. All diesel vehicles including most new diesel trucks, pickups, SUVs and vans are fitted with this technology and have a DEF tank that must be refilled regularly.

Since DEF product integrity is critical to the SCR system it is important to utilize a company that is experienced in the installation of DEF systems.

Pine Run construction has already completed DEF fueling facilities for customers like Pilot in Frystown, Pennsylvania and Sunoco in Jamesburg, New Jersey.

“We are prepared to help current and new stations implement this technology and as more truck stops and gasoline stations begin to offer DEF, we are looking at a future with more trucks including this cheaper additive that allows diesel to burn cleaner with less impact on the environment.” – ” Brian Dubas, President Pine Run Construction

DID YOU KNOW?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) is a non-hazardous solution of purified water and 32.5% urea. Urea is a compound in Nitrogen that turns to ammonia when it gets heated.

DEF is sprayed into the exhaust stream of diesel vehicles to break down dangerous NOx emissions into harmless nitrogen and water. The DEF is stored in a separate tank which is insulated and heated and is marked by a blue filler cap.

DEF in Diesel Vehicles Creates:

Enhanced combustion

Better fuel economy

Increased horsepower

Fewer service maintenance

Fewer regeneration issues

Less wear and tear on the engine

Better for the planet

More reliable

DEF is approximately 2% of the fuel consumed. For every 50 gallons of diesel fuel burned you will use 1 gallon of DEF.
